JUAN CASTELLON

Juan was born in El Salvador. As a student at the College of Lake County he majored in Communications with a minor in Dance. Juan began his formal Spanish dance training with Dame Libby Komaiko in 2005 and in 2006 was promoted to full Company dancer. Later that year he transferred to NEIU. His dance studies include modern, Latin, African, capoeira and ballet, with Valerie Alpert, Vaune Blalock, and Matthew Hill. He was a member of the Prairie Spirit Dance Theater for five years and Fear No Art Festival for six years, as choreographer. In 2003 he performed for the Valerie Alpert Dance Company. His acting, modeling and musical theater stage production credits include Gipsy at the Orlin Trapp Auditorium, West Side Story at the Mainstage Theatre in the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts and winner of the “Mr. Vision” modeling competition in Waukegan. Juan has appeared in several productions with the Chamber Opera Chicago including, Te Amo, tribute to Spanish dancers Pascual Olivera & Angela Del Moral, Carmen & Man of La Mancha.
