ANTONIO GABARRI JIMENEZ,
Flamenco Guitarist
Antonio was born in Madrid where he began playing Flamenco guitar in his youth. Following his inspiration of Manolo Sanlucar, Antonio quickly rose to playing in the top tablaos of Madrid Café de Chinitas, Corral de la Pacheca and Karibeu. He has accompanied such distinguished artists as La Chunga, Ramirez, La Chana, El Mimbre, and Carmela Greco. For over eight years, Antonio worked as guitarist for the renowned Lola Flores. In the mid-1980s, Antonio formed his own musical group, Los Cholos,. The group recorded several cd’s reaching audiences in Germany and England. Antonio joined the José Greco II Company as music director in 1992, with which he toured throughout the U.S. and Italy with Lola Greco, Carmela Greco & Jose Greco Jr. In 2001, he composed the music for Climax, a production dedicated to the life of José Greco. Antonio toured with the Greco family and this production to Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka.
DAVID CHIRIBOGA, Flamenco Guitarist
With origins from Ecuador, David was raised in Chicago and has been playing the guitar since his early teenage years. He has studied in with many master Flamenco guitarists in Granada, Madrid and Seville. He has also been trained in Classical guitar, majoring in Music Performance with Dr. Brian Torosian at Northeastern Illinois University. He currently performs with Ensemble Español and El Payo and has worked with The Guitars of Spain, Mezcal, Bandoleros and Soleo Flamenco Dance Company. He has played in various parts of the country and performed in many Chicago-land venues including the International Hot House, U.S. Cellular Field, Raw Bar, and Excalibur. He has also appeared on many major U.S. television and radio programs and was part of the Old Town School of Folk Music staff, both teaching and playing for Flamenco dance classes.
KASSANDRA KOCOSHIS, Percussionist
Kassandra is second generation Greek. She began playing percussion in 1995 under Clay Arnett and in 1999 with Dr. Erwin Mueller. In 2006 she received her Bachelors of Music in Percussion Performance at DePaul University under the instruction of Eric Millstein, Michael Green, Fred Selvaggio, and Al Payson. During her college years, she also studied with the world-renown percussion group, NEXUS. She has performed with the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, Muncie Symphony Orchestra, Concertante di Chicago, Sacred Winds Ensemble and the Aspen Opera Theater. In 2004, Kassandra began playing flamenco. She has studied with Francisco Fernandez "El Yiyi,” Timo Lozano and Oscar Valero. Kassandra has been performing with various Flamenco artists including the Ensemble Español and their international guest artists of the American Spanish Dance Festival such as Paco Fonta & Panzekito, to name a few. Other musicians include Alfonso Ponticelli, David Chiriboga, Jim Collinsworth, Michelle Nascimento, and Las Guitarras de España. Kassandra is part of the Flamenco trio, Idilio with Chiara Mangiameli & Diego Alonso whose cd premiered in July of 2009.
