Company Dancer, Teacher
Julia, of Mexican-Puerto Rican descent, is a native of Chicago. She began her formal Spanish dance studies with Dame Libby Komaiko in 2000. Since then she has studied with Irma Suarez Ruiz, Jorge Pérez, Edo, Timo Lozano, Celia Fonta, Omayra Amaya, Manolete, Carmela Greco, and with former first dancers and principals of the National Ballet of Spain, Ana González, Juan Mata, Paloma Gomez and Cristian Lozano. She has studied Ballet and Modern dance with Ana Czajun, Rachel Burton, Jim Morrow, Ana Levin, and Venetia Stifler of the NEIU’s dance program. She has also studied in Spain with Inmaculada Ortega, Concha Jareño and Candela Soto. In 2004, Julia received her BA in English with a Dance minor. She is currently working on her Master's Degree in Arts Management at Columbia College Chicago. She is also an instructor with the NEIU Community Children's Dance program and on the faculty of the E.E community Flamenco dance workshops and school residencies programs.
