Requirements

The Development Director will be primarily responsible for the following tasks.

1. FUNDRAISING: Engaging in research to identify new individual, corporation, foundation and government prospects. In partnership with the Finance and Fundraising Committees, s/he will establish short and long term goals for unrestricted funding sources. Research public and private grant resources to identify sources of restricted and unrestricted funding. Partner with program staff to develop funding related projects, including but not limited to developing, coordinating, maintaining and implementing the annual fundraising plan and strategy.

2. MAJOR GIFT/DONOR SUPPORT: Produce major donor, board and special category solicitaions/support material with the intent to retain or upgrade gifts when possible. eDeveloping, coordinating and implementing a new high donor program for Ensemble Español. Drafting fundraising letters and appeal (annual giving) campaign; maintaining regular correspondence with foundations, donors and board members.

3. DATABASE AND RECORDS MANAGEMENT: Maintaining and expanding Ensemble Español's funding database. Generate queries, reports, and any other data collection as needed. Provide reports to the Board of Directors.

4. GRANTS: Identify corporate and governmental grants. Drafting grant proposals and related reports. Drafting presentations and attending meetings related to the grant proposal process.

5. Performing such other duties as may be required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

1. At least 3 years of nonprofit fundraising/development experience, preferably with significant foundation and high donor fundraising experience.

2. Demonstrated track record of obtaining grants, and developing corporate partnerships for nonprofit organization. Strong grant writing skills.

3. Demonstrate track record in achieving revenue targets.

4. Interest, enthusiasm and respect for the history, mission, and goals of Ensemble Español.

5. Interest, enthusiasm and affinity for fundraising and working with people.

6. Excellent written communication, research and organizational skills.

7. Thorough understanding of all components of a diversified funding base.

8. Computer literacy, with experience with fundraising databases.

9. Excellent written communication, research and organizational skills.

10. Ability to develop and manage budgets and prepare financial reports.

11. High energy, positive "can-do" attitude, flexibility, teamwork and attention to detail; high degree of initiative.

Our programs include professional concert presentations, educational outreach programming, an academic Spanish dance program and the annual American Spanish Dance and Music Festival.
