What to expect:

For the audition you will participate in a Spanish dance class that will be lead by José Torres, EE First Dancer.

Afterwards, you are welcome to present a 2-4 minute dance piece in any style of your choice. This is optional (We provide this option for those dancers whose dance skills may not be in Spanish dance but they still want to highlight their abilities)

What you will need:

  • Dance attire that allows you to move freely.
  • A headshot or photo that helps us identify you during the audition (5×7 is recommended but 4×6 acceptable)
  • A great attitude and open mind!

Who is the EEYC?

The Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Youth Company serves as the pre-professional training program to the organization’s professional company.

Founded in 1985 by Dame Libby Komaiko and the late Lillian C. Heminover, executive board member, and Fine Arts coordinator at Frederick Funston School, the training program offers intensive training to serious, young artists.

Most Recent Accomplishments:

  • A Senior Division dancer was just awarded the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events Rising Star Award for 2018.
  • Dancers performed as the highlighted guest artists for the Shakespeare in the Parks pre-show at Welles Park for “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
