About Abigail Ventura
ABIGAIL VENTURA is a native of Chicago and began studying Spanish dance with After School Matters, under the direction of Julia Hinojosa at Northeastern Illinois University. She has studied modern, ballet and jazz at NEIU with Venetia Stifle, Rachael Burton, Jamie Ferrell and Victor Alexander. She joined the Ensemble’s Youth Company in 2010, and became an apprentice and was promoted to Company Dancer shortly after. While in the Ensemble’s Youth Company, Abigail traveled to Madrid, Spain in 2012 to study with such artists as Paloma Gomez, Carmela Greco and Maria Torres at the Botica del Arte Dance Studio. Abigail is a recipient of the Brommel-Komaiko-Perez and Music Department and Dance Program scholarships at NEIU. She represented NEIU at the American College Dance Festival in 2012, and presented her choreography Despidida de los Virgenes in 2013. Abigail performs nationally with the Ensemble, and was showcased in Ron De Jesus’ Mil Clavos in 2014. Abigail is a graduate of NEIU with a degree in Dance Education, and teaches throughout the Chicago area at various dance studios and schools.
