About Frida Medina
FRIDA MEDINA, Company Dancer, was born in Chicago, and started dancing at age seven by taking ballet and jazz at St. Mary of the Angels Elementary School. She started her formal Spanish dance training in 2004 with the Ensemble Español’s Youth Company, under the direction of Dame Libby Komaiko and Sara Samuels. In 2013, she became an apprentice artist, and has since studied with Irma Suárez Ruiz, Jorge Pérez, Julia Hinojosa, Juan Mata, Ana Gonzalez, Timo Lozano, Paloma Gomez, Raquel Gomez, Cristian Lozano, and ballet with Anna Czajun. She traveled to the Botica del Arte Dance Studio in Madrid, Spain with the Youth Company in 2012 to study Flamenco and Spanish dance. Frida travels and performs with the company nationally, and has performed in works by Ron De Jesus and Irma Suárez Ruiz. Frida is on faculty with the Ensemble Español Flamenco Dance community workshops, and is currently studying Spanish Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
