About Hugo Salcedo

Hugo Salcedo began studying flamenco guitar at the age of 18 in Guadalajara, Mexico with renown flamenco guitarist Fernando Martínez Peralta (head of the University of Guadalajara Music Conservatory guitar program). Mr. Martínez became his mentor and invited him to be part of his group Andalucia. He traveled to Spain to study with international flamenco figures such as Manolo Sanlucar, Manolo Franco and José Antonio Rodríguez during the Festival de la Guitarra de Córdoba. While in Spain, he also attended the Curso Internacional de Flamenco in Sanlucar de Barrameda imparted by renown figure, Gerardo Nuñez. He also studied music theory and harmony with renown jazz guitarists, Mario Romero and Mario Alvarado in Guadalajara, and with classical guitarist, Ricardo Martinez in the University of Colima School of Arts in the state of Colima.
