About Laila Galecki
LAILA GALECKI, born in Chicago and of Polish and Mexican decent started dancing with Ensemble Español at the age of 7 in the community workshop classes. At the age of 10, Laila began her formal training as a Youth Company dancer under the direction of Sara Samuels, Julia Hinojosa and José Torres. Her studies with the Youth Company have taken her to Madrid, Spain, where she studied Spanish dance. Laila has also studied with Carmela Greco, Paloma and Raquel Gomez, and Carlos Rodríguez.
Laila works for the Ensemble Español’s community class outreach program teaching students of all ages. She has also assisted with After School Matters and Ensemble Español’s community classes. Laila recently completed a residency program at a CPS school.
Laila is a full-time student at Loyola University Chicago where she is majoring in Bilingual Special Education and hopes to incorporate her knowledge of dance into her future classroom.
