About Leticia Valadez
Leticia Valadez is the Principal at Berwyn South District 100. Leticia is a triple alumna of Northeastern Illinois University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education, Master of Arts Degree in Teaching Mathematics, and Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership. Her teaching career spans 12 years serving the diverse students of the Chicago Public Schools and 4 years as a school administrator including Barrington District 220. She currently serves as a Golden Apple Foundation Selection Committee Member. Teaching and learning are her passion and purpose.
Leticia developed a love for Spanish dance and music while studying at Northeastern Illinois University where the Ensemble Español is in residence. Part of her mission as an educator and school leader is to instill pride in her students’ cultural heritage. For many years she has introduce her students to the art and culture of Spain through Historias de España: A multimedia presentation by the Ensemble Español.
Her love for Flamenco dance has taken her to several Spanish cities such as Barcelona, Granada, Madrid and Malaga where she has deepened her appreciation for this art form. She has visited several tablaos including Casa Patas in Madrid, Tablao Los Amayas in Malaga, Cueva la Rocio in Sacromonte, Granada, and Museo del Flamenco Juan Brava in Malaga.
Leticia is passionate about Spanish dance and culture. She is an advocate for students and champions the arts and access to opportunity. Thus, she is excited to serve on the EEYC Board to help fulfill its mission.
