About Matthew Jalac
MATTHEW JALAC, Company Apprentice, is of Filipino descent, and was first introduced to Spanish Dance at the formerly called, Gordon Tech High School, under the direction of Ensemble Español Principal Dancer, Monica Saucedo.
In 2013, he auditioned and was accepted into the Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Youth Company where he began his formal dance training with Principal Dancer, Julia Hinojosa and First Dancer, Jose Torres.
In addition to training with the Youth Company, Matthew has also studied dance with Irma Suárez Ruiz, Paloma Gomez, Raquel Gomez, Carlos Rodriguez, Ángel Rojas, Carmela Greco, Jose Greco III, Gala Vivancos, Pol Vaquero, and founding member of the National Ballet of Spain, Juan Mata.
Matthew has studied contemporary dance with Mary Tisa, Co-Artistic Director of the Jay-son Tisa Dance Company and ballet with Anna Czajun. In January 2017, Matthew was awarded an apprenticeship to the Ensemble Español’s professional company. Matthew holds a degree of Residential and Commercial Interior Design from the British Academy of Interior Design and is a member of the International Interior Design Association.
