About Patricia Ortega
Patricia Ortega, Flamenco Singer, has Mexican/Cuban musical roots, which contributed greatlyto her interest in ethnic music studies and performance. She is currently a member of the Spanish guitar ensemble Las Guitarras de España, which has performed to sold-out venues in Chicago and the Midwest. She has the ability to create vocal phrasing on the spot in many genres including Cuban music, rhythm and blues, soul, and flamenco music. As a composer, Ortega has co-written much of the Las Guitarras de España catalogue with guitarist Carlo Basile. Ortega continues to study traditional flamenco cante. She has worked and studied with Curro Cueto, Vicente Griego, Antonio Pitingo, Alfonso Cid, and Jose Cortes “Pansequito, hijo.” Ortega also has studied flamenco cante with Chiqui de Jerez.
